About Marjan

Marjan Debevere
(ADip FBM)

Marjan is a qualified (ADip FBM), certified, vet-referred cat behaviourist based in North London. She studied Feline Behaviour & Psychology at Compass Education and qualified with a distinction in December 2019. She is specialised in feline behaviour as cats are her passion and the species she is most in tune with.

She’s fully insured and a certified member of ISAP (The International Society of Animal Professionals).

Marjan has spent the best part of 10 years photographing 3000+ cats for Mayhew Animal Home, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Wood Green The Animals Charity.

She has built up a wealth of experience and knowledge whilst photographing and socialising cats in rescue settings. It is in fact because of her work in animal rescue that she became a cat behaviourist. Too many animals are relinquished to shelters because of often easily fixed behavioural issues. She wanted to try and change that and become part of the solution. Marjan is passionate about rescue cats and offers 20% discount for rescue cat cases.

She also works part-time in South Africa in cheetah conservation with Ashia Cheetah Conservation, a project that focuses on rewilding cheetahs with a view to grow the endangered cheetah population.

She is originally from Bruges in Belgium but has been living in the UK for 29 years. She has worked as a TV producer/documentary maker (for amongst others BBC, CH4, CH5, Discovery Channel & National Geographic) for many years before realising at the age of 43 that her passion in life is to improve the lives of domestic cats and their owners as well as the big wild cats kept in captivity whilst they are being prepared for their (re)-introduction into the wild.
